For whatever reason, people seem to think I’m well informed about contemporary issues. I frequently find myself answering questions like “well, what news do you read?”
I have to answer something like, “Well, I subscribe to several dozen RSS feeds, and I read them in a particular ratio, grouped a certain way, but I’ve never really written it down.” Until now.
This.Just-In! is an effort to create a well rounded news service for the reader who wants to know what’s really happening in the world rather than what the big media corporations want to present as important.
Although I do sometimes read ‘corporate’ or state sources, I generally regard ‘independant’ and / or ‘collaborative’ sources as more credible, more poignant, and more hard-hitting. Thus, I have compiled this page without the use of sources such as NPR, the Washington Post, or Al Jazeera, despite the fact that I read these as well.
From a technological standpoint, this page is nothing more than a series of aggregated and mashed RSS and Atom feeds. Each section on this page consists of one ‘mashup,’ for which I have chosen feeds from certain sources in a particular ratio.
The political slant of This.Justin-In! is similar to my own: A combination of radical, libertarian, fiscal conservative, and social progressive.
I think you’ll find This.JustIn! to be among the most diverse and credible sources of news on the internet, and I encourage you to make it your browser start page.
If you have a suggestion for a feed, please let me know about it.
