Adam Kokesh of IVAW to speak in New Paltz Thursday!
Anti-war rock star Adam Kokesh (see his blog here) will speak at SUNY New Paltz tomorrow (FaceBook). This blogger will introduce him.
Kokesh, a Marine Sergeant, is a veteran of the Iraq War and a member of the board of directors of Iraq Veterans Against the War. He is also an architect of many official actions of the group as well as many tactical innovations of his own that have coincidentally made IVAW famous.
He has made a number of steady waves in both underground and mainstream medias. Most recently he made headlines when he interuppted John McCain’s speech at the Republican National Convention (outside of which this blogger was tear gassed) by holding up a sign that read “McCain voted against vets,” although the MSM focused largely on a crazy Code Pink lady.
Students in New Paltz may remember Kokesh’s outrageous “Islamofascism Awareness Week” posters, which made the rounds on FaceBook. The posters lampooned stereotypes applied to Muslims and purported to be a product of “Students for Convervito-Fascism Awareness.” Priceless!
I’ll leave you with what might be Kokesh’s best speech to date, in which he hands-down stole the show at the r3volution March in DC this summer. It was a great day, and Kokesh brought it all together:
